EPISODE 5

"THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT"

After having been missing for most of the winter, Mapp and Lucia are considered to be lost at sea. Life gradually returns to normal in Tilling, but Major Benjy, who had been made Miss Mapp’s heir, moves into "Mallards", whilst Georgie, Lucia’s heir, continues to pay her servants’ wages and keep her house in order, never giving up hope of seeing her again.

One spring morning, the ladies reappear, having spent the time on an Italian fishing trawler, and Mapp is shocked to find the Major in residence. Both ladies are determined to give full accounts of their ordeal: Lucia books the Town Hall and secures full support, while Mapp, wooed by the Major, gets engaged instead.
